Want to start your genealogy journey but don't know Where to begin?
This four-session course will give you the tools and techniques you need to find your ancestors and preserve your family's history. We'll guide you through the basics of genealogy, including how to find and analyze key records such as census, vital, and DNA records. You'll also learn essential skills like understanding sources, evidence, and proof to build a reliable family tree. By the end of this course, you'll have the confidence to research your family's past and share their stories.

Registration
The course is free and open to the public,

MEET THE INSTRUCTORS
Susan Kim
Susan Kim is the Director of Education for the Idaho Genealogical Society and a member of the Society's Research Committee. A professional genealogist with a special interest in Jewish ancestry in the former region of Galicia, Austria, Susan honed her research and analytical skills while completing a master's degree in epidemiology and during a 30-plus year career as a pediatrician. After retiring from medicine in 2020, she earned a Certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University and now offers genealogical research services through her own business, Susan C. Kim, Family Historian (kimfamilyhistorian.com). Recognizing the importance of preserving history, she is also a Board member for the Sawtooth Interpretive and Historical Association in Stanley, Idaho, and a docent at the Anne Frank Memorial in Boise.
Lorene Coe
Lorene Coe is the Director of Special Projects for the Idaho Genealogical Society. A professional genealogist with a special interest in finding biological ancestors of adoptees, she also has experience in Italian, German and Czech research with ancestors who immigrated in the late 1800s and early 1900s. After retiring from banking she earned a Certificate in Genealogical Research from IAP Career College in February 2025. As owner of “Piecing Your Family Together” she offers personalized research and guidance in writing family history.
