Genealogical Research Services
The Idaho Genealogical Society is pleased to offer genealogical research services provided by our dedicated team of experienced volunteers. We understand the importance of your family history and are here to help you uncover your roots.
How It Works
- Submit a Request: Begin by completing our research request form.
- Free Research Hour: A volunteer researcher will conduct up to one hour of free research to assess your request, begin your research, and determine if further investigation is needed.
- Receive a Plan: After the first hour, you'll receive a report detailing our initial findings, as well as a time estimate if additional hours of research are recommended.

- Pay for Continued Research: If you'd like us to continue, send a check for the estimated amount to the Idaho Genealogical Society at PO Box 190828, Boise, ID 83719-0828. The cost is $20 per hour for Society members and $25 per hour for non-members for all research conducted after the initial free hour.
- Get your Report: Once the additional research is complete, our volunteer will provide you with a report of all findings.
Important Notes
- No Guarantees: We cannot guarantee specific results. The research fee is for the time spent, regardless of our findings. A report of negative findings still represents valuable research.
- Supporting the Society: All proceeds from our research services go directly to the Idaho Genealogical Society, helping us continue our mission of preserving and promoting genealogical education.
